I prepared this almond and caramel chocolate cake A few days ago for a family meal. I had little time and I didn't want to complicate myself too much, that's why I chose this recipe from an old book by my mother without much hope about an unusual result, but I was totally wrong.

We start by greasing the mold and preheating the oven at 180ºC. Chop the chocolate and we melt it in the water bath or in the microwave. Add the butter and stir with a spatula until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until they acquire the consistency of a mousse and then add it to the chocolate while still beating. Add the almond powder and half of the rolled almonds and mix with enveloping movements, so that the dough is not lowered.
We pour the dough into the mold we have prepared, with a spatula we smooth the surface and sprinkle the rolled almonds on top. Bake for about 30 minutes or until, with a stick, it comes out clean. Let stand five minutes, unmold, let cool completely and sprinkle with ground sugar before serving.
With what to accompany the caramel almond and chocolate cake
Surely there will be no crumbs of this almond and caramel chocolate cake, but if so, store the remaining piece in an airtight mold. If you are chocoadicts you can also prepare a chocolate ganache and pour it on the cake, to finish completing. It is delicious accompanied by a tea in the afternoon.
